SDI cable is widely used in radio and television, surveillance, live broadcast and other fields. It is an important interface type for connecting professional video equipment. Its full name is Serial Digital Interface, which is a digital component serial interface. SDI lines mainly transmit uncompressed digital video signals through high-quality 75 ohm coaxial cables. They have the advantages of long transmission distance, stable signal, and strong anti-interference.

Main types of SDI cables

SDI cables are mainly divided into the following main types according to different transmission rates and resolutions:

When using SDI cables, you need to pay attention to the following points:

When purchasing SDI cables, pay attention to the cable numbers and do not confuse SDI cables with SYV75 cables. SYV75 cable is a coaxial cable for analog video signal transmission. It cannot be used for SDI signal transmission, otherwise it will cause problems such as unstable transmission and short distance.

When connecting the SDI cable, pay attention to the type of interface and do not confuse the SDI interface with the Q9 connector. The Q9 connector is a universal coaxial cable interface that can transmit both analog signals and SDI signals. But not all Q9 connectors can output SDI signals. You need to look at the specifications of the device.

When using SDI cables, pay attention to signal matching and do not confuse different types of SDI signals (such as 3G/6G/12G). Different kinds of SDI signals have different transmission rates and resolutions, which need to be matched with the device and display to work properly. Generally speaking, high-speed SDI signals can be backward compatible, but not vice versa.
